Our house is a small house, and pretty in many ways. It's about 8 years old but you wouldn't know it from our bare backyard. My husband and I have not given it the attention it deserves and so the transformation begins. We probably won't live here more than a few more years, so whatever we do has to be two-fold: 1. keep within a budget (make it look rich while staying on a budget) and 2. beautify so that when we do sell, it is inviting to homebuyers.
What do we have in mind for our end result? A backyard retreat with a couple small gardens/container gardens and space for kids to play!
My husband is not picky and easy to please and we have a young daughter who'd really prefer to put this project in over-drive so that she can spend more time outside! The backyard is quite spacious so we'd like to make it inviting to company and enjoy it ourselves. Arizona weather allows for many comfortable evenings outdoors, so it's time to get a move on!
Our first purchase is going to be a clubhouse/swingset from American Play Systems in Tucson. We've decided to invest in this so that our daughter, niece and little friends have something to do outside instead of always staying indoors. It should be installed by April 15--what a surprise that will be. That is likely to be our biggest splurge! Creativity and bargain shopping are a must for all else in our backyard retreat!
